Terry Cafferty is an aerospace engineering consultant specializing in orbiting imaging systems, and has worked for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Hughes Aircraft, and Raytheon. Terry tells how, even in the midst of a conventionally "successful" life, he became aware of his own inability to truly love, feel, and be in relationship with others. The crisis engendered by this realization led him to consider spiritual practice, and ultimately led him to his Spiritual Master, Avatar Adi Da Samraj.

On January 6, 2006 at The Mountain Of Attention Sanctuary in California, Adi Da Samraj recited His own renderings of the Advaitic texts Maneesha Panchakam ("Five Verses on Wisdom"), Shankara's Dasasloki ("Ten Declarations"), and the Devikalottara.

These recordings are now available on the 3-CD set, The Reality-Teachings of the Advaitic Sages, the second volume in The Gnosticon Discourse Series from the Dawn Horse Press.

It is a delight to hear Adi Da bring the essence of these ancient texts to life, and feel how He completely and utterly combined Himself with the tradition of the Advaitic Sages. Not only does Adi Da clarify the hidden treasures and ancient truths in these texts, He also explains why the meaning of a sacred text can be communicated only by someone who has Realized the truth of it.

This is an excerpt from Track 4 of Disk 3 ("Reality (Itself) Is All The God There Is").

The collection of Avatar Adi Da's renderings and related discourses became the seed of His book, The Gnosticon, in which He thoroughly examines the Transcendental Teachings of the ancient Sages in relation to His Transcendental Spiritual Way of Adidam.

James tells how, even though he came to Adi Da because He was "a teacher who can deal with me", nonetheless there were moments when James resisted Adi Da's "dealing" with him. He tells the story of one such moment and how studying the details of the Guru-devotee relationship in the spiritual traditions helped move him into right relationship with his Guru.

In this excerpt from the talk, The Great Secret, Avatar Adi Da speaks about how growth in Spiritual terms depends on fulfilling the impulse of the heart: to live the sacred life by always living in contemplation of the "Sat-Guru", or Spiritual Master.

Adi Da: "So practice is not what you do alone when you are home. Practice is what you do with Me. Wherever you may be, you must find the Space of My Company. This is the Secret...you find It by "locating" that Attractiveness Itself, being attracted by It, being moved by It.

So this is a concentrated life, a life of contemplation, a life of being attracted, a life of gravitating toward the sacred domain... The movement of the heart is always to be right here, to be right where the Sat-Guru is. So the devotee finds every opportunity to do just that."

"Adi Da has a flexibility in his expression that encompasses all the art forms and techniques of the East and West. His work is a multiplication of space in time and time in space.... He's like a barman shaking Western space in the fluidity of Eastern concepts and forms. Adi Da wants to ultimately affirm art as a form of, a spiritual representation of the Divine nature of man, which can articulate a new vision of space and a new vision of time. This relationship between the East and West is very important. In a historical moment such as this, it is important to affirm, as a fundamental value of art at this time, the coexistence of differences."
