Avatar Adi Da Samraj kutsui ihmisiä lähestymään Häntä Hengellisenä Opettajana ensimmäistä kertaa 25. huhtikuuta 1972 Hänen uudessa ashramissaan Melrose Avenuella Los Angelesissa. Tuona iltana Avatar Adi Da ensin istui hiljaa noin tunnin verran läsnäolijoiden kanssa, Levittäen heille Hänen Säteilevää Toteutuksen Olotilansa Ylevyyttä.

Sitten Adi Da puhui:
ADI DA: "Onko kellään kysymyksiä?"
Kukaan ei vastannut, joten Avatar Adi Da Samraj kysyi uudelleen:
ADI DA: "Kaikki ovat ymmärtäneet?"
KYSYJ Ä: "En ymmärtänyt. Selitä minulle."
ADI DA: "Hyvä on. Mitä et ymmärtänyt?"

Ja niin alkoi Adi Dan Opetustyö!

For the first time, on April 25, 1972, Avatar Adi Da Samraj invited people to approach Him as Spiritual Teacher at His new ashram center on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. That evening, Avatar Adi Da first sat in silence for perhaps an hour with those present, Transmitting to them the Sublimity of His Radiant State of Realization. Then, Adi Da spoke.

ADI DA: Are there any questions?

No one replied, so Avatar Adi Da Samraj spoke again.

ADI DA: Everyone has understood?
QUESTIONER: I have not understood. Explain it to me.
ADI DA: Very good. What have you not understood?

And so began Adi Da's Teaching Work.

ADI DA: Wszyscy zrozumieli?
PYTAJąCY: Ja nie zrozumiałem. Wyjaśnij mi to.
ADI DA: Bardzo dobrze. Czego nie zrozumiałeś?

Tak zaczęła się praca nauczania Adi Da!

"The Avon Lady" is a classic talk given by Avatar Adi Da in the early years of His Teaching-Work. In this humorous and penetrating discourse, Avatar Adi Da offers basic instruction regarding the nature of seeking and the Awakening Function of the True Guru.

In this audio excerpt entitled “There Is Already No Dilemma”, Avatar Adi Da describes the human egoic drama of separation, suffering, and seeking. All pleasures, distractions, and experiences reinforce that same drama of the apparently separate self. But the True Guru does not support the search, does not promise any fulfillment of that search. That is the uniqueness and the invaluable quality of the True Guru. Adi Da compares the True Guru to an unusual elevator – where one steps in, expecting to go up (toward Spiritual attainment or some other fulfillment), but instead the bottom drops out. This is why the search begins to fall apart once there is recognition of the True Guru. Then the real Spiritual process can begin.

Adi Da describes the ego as a process or action, and our suffering as the result of that action ("pinching oneself"). Therefore, merely analyzing the "I" thought (for example) is not sufficient for self-transcendence. Transcendence of the act that is ego is a matter of counter-egoic behavior.

An excerpt from "Walking the Dog", a humorous and penetrating Discourse from the very earliest years of Avatar Adi Da’s Teaching-Work. Using the analogy of a man walking his dog to describe the usual man's self-indulgence and sub-consciousness, Avatar Adi Da Samraj humorously expounds on the true nature of our own egoity.

From the CD, The Avon Lady / Walking The Dog. This talk is also published in the book, My "Bright" Word. A course, My "Bright" Word, is also available from The Laughing Man Institute.
